How To Map Out Your Course Using The 3-Part Solution
Give them a GPS that takes them to their goal
How on earth do you outline a course?
The task can seem overwhelming. You either know so much that you don't know where to begin. Or you doubt whether you know enough.
Fortunately both problems are solved by the same three-step process.
1) List everything you know about your topic.
Yes, list it all. Don't worry, you'll cut most of it later.
2) Put the ideas into clumps
Start grouping ideas together that seem related. Soon you'll have 4-5 clumps.
3) Choose three
Now choose just three clumps to use for your course. This may be hard. But remember, the other material can go into another course, so nothing is lost.
I followed this process recently and came up with the following three ideas for my course on creating atomic courses.
Part 1: The Three-Part Solution
You learn how to organize the three subtopics for your course.
Part 2: The Question Framework
You discover how to know exactly how you'll cover each subtopic.
Part 3: The Information Sandwich
You learn how to create the introduction and conclusion for your course.
To keep it atomic, I had to cut out a lot of other cool stuff such as how to find fun images to use in your course. Including everything would make the course much too big.
I have bullets under each of these three parts too.
I’m only showing that kind of detail to subscribers to this newsletter. Yes, that’s you.
