Today is a special day.
I completed all parts of the course including some extras I was only going to do if I had time.
It took just shy of an hour to get it all done.
I was creating the course in Google Docs but wanted to add some pictures with captions. Google Docs is horrible with captioned photos. I thought of using InDesign which is beautiful but very time-consuming.
So I decided to use Pages for the Mac instead.
It was bliss. I exported the document to MS Word. Then imported it into Pages. Viola! All the text and images were intact. Then I formatted the photos and added the captions.
That whole process took less than 30 minutes.
Other tasks such as making the final video, editing of text, adding front matter, adding a table of contents took the remaining 30 minutes.
After all the work, I'm proud. The course looks beautiful.
I include a few snapshots at the end, so you can see for yourself.
I'm beyond excited to reach this point. And I thank every one of you reading my daily updates. It was so much easier to remain motivated with all the comments I received by email, Twitter and Substack.
Your responses made a difference.
And even those that read but didn't reply, thank you. I can see how many people opened and it is also a big motivator.
What happens next?
Tomorrow is a big day but not for this course. My wife and I are taking our two daughters to Universal Studios Hollywood. My eldest is a fan of Harry Potter and wanted to see Hogwarts for her 9th birthday.
We'll have fun. But I also won't have much time (or energy) to get more work done on this project tomorrow. So I will likely miss a day.
My next step is to let the course breath for a minute anyhow so this is happening at the perfect time.
Until the day after tomorrow,
Rodney
