Day 18 - How to craft an engaging introduction to your course
Crafting an analogy is key
Last night, I wrote the introduction for the course.
To write an introduction, I like to create an analogy that either 1) explains a larger concept related to the course or 2) drives home why the program is important.
In this case, I used method #1. I decided that the concept I wanted to get across was "trusted system." I then searched for a system we all trust everyday to use as an analogy to what I'm teaching in my course on organizing your digital life.
I think it turned out OK but you be the judge.
By the way, as I'm writing this, it is the end of the Thanksgiving holiday in the US. So I though it only fitting that I thank all of you who read my updates every day and send me emails and comments with questions or words of encouragement.
What you say is making a difference and makes it gratifying to keep going.
Until tomorrow,
Rodney
P.S. I post a screenshot of today's draft of the introduction below.
