There are 3 topics I am actively thinking about a lot these days:
Topic #1: Drip-Drip Teaching
Drip-Drip Teaching because it is the most effective way I’ve found to help people learn.
You teach in small increments so the student gains skill. Because each step is small, they succeed early and often which gives them confidence.
My hope is that over the next 5 years, as I continue to reach more online course builders, I’ll be able to help 10,000 of them develop their customer’s skills and confidence using Drip-Drip Teaching.
Topic #2: Category Creation
Category Creation is the art of creating a new concept in your customer’s mind that differentiates you from the competition.
As the creator of a category you get to define it and get to be top dog.
Nicolas Cole, Christopher Lochhead and Eddie Yoon introduced me to it with their book Snow Leopard — and since reading it, I have learned a lot about the importance of developing a unique point of view, avoiding the comparison trap, and creating new terms to communicate new ideas in a way that can grow a business.
Topic #3: Open Questions
Open questions is the strategy that Nobel Laureate Richard Feynman credited with his success.
It is the habit of keeping a list of question you are trying to answer in your life and work. Every time you find some useful information, you bounce it on your list of questions.
Every so often you get a hit and make progress on a thorny problem you otherwise would have missed.
That’s the list.
I’d love to connect with other people who are interested in these same topics — so if any of the above resonates, feel free to reach out!
